America's distribution problem is nothing new, but William Reid's odd lifestyle is almost a direct reflection of it.

During the late sixties hippies used to "dumpster dive" to survive.

It was a common occurrence to see hippies behind super markets diving for perfectly good foods in the dumpsters that had been tossed out.

The printed expiration dates were passed or about to pass, but the food was still perfectly good.
