CCPC streaming probably performs good enough for vocals such as a bible study.
The organizers of the 2015 Jesus People Reunion got an impressive event together.
There were an equal amount of impressive people present in the audience.
Well done!
Only one problem.
The JP Reunion was streamed through:
http://www.ustream.tv/
Anyone else watch the 'Silicon Valley' TV show...LOL
They have a streaming app called Pied Piper.
(Fictionally) It has the ultimate compression engine.
http://www.piedpiper.com/
Ustream did a very poor showing to 18,224 computers online today.
Most of the comments at the Calvary Chapel Pacific Coast web page were related to streaming quality and such...
Just like in the Silicon Valley show, ustream didn't perform to the satisfaction of the internet viewing audience apparently.
Here are a few of those comments that appeared, related to the streaming of the event:
"someone needs to check the sound feed to the ustream for the june 13th concert, No vocals and seems like instruments are overdriving"
"Awful mix on the web....lots of noise, cannot hear any vocals...lots of effects from instruments, and only bass, drums (With too much delay, echo) and very little electric guitars, hope someone reads this. Or I'll have to ask for my money back. :) Haha. I know you'll get it worked out somehow."
"Fuzzy picture and the sound needs to be mixed for the internet. Was all bass and drums with no guitar and vocals. Now it was all fuzzy vocals. There is also a constant whooshing going through the whole sound. I know that this is a last minute deal, but if someone can stay on the mix in headphones it would be great."
"Watching but unfortunately the audio is really bad ... can you fix the audio?! Super fuzzy-sounding :/"
"don't mind the hum , but would to be great to hear the vocals..... nice bass and steel though...."
"I have video/ audio - but audio is full of static"
"Audio is very distorted."
Apparently no one thought about how it was going to be streamed to the internet in advance of the reunion.
No test run.
No thought for the internet viewing audience, which according to the counter were present for the event.
But when it came to music it just couldn't get it right.
And the video quality was horrible.
Who knows, could have been bandwidth restrictions on CC's feed due to their subscription level.
Or maybe so many viewers overwhelmed the upstream servers.
Or perhaps the internet system operator at CCPC was in over his head.
I know a lot of the musicians and they have really good ears for music.
If they saw and heard what was streaming out to the net they would agree with the comments about it.
It really doesn't cost that much to have a one time event, glitch free, streaming with bandwidth for HD.
The video that CCPC will commercialize of the event hopefully will be in HD.
The sale of which could possibly have paid for musician approved level of HD streaming.
No reason to cheap out on such an historic event was there?
Reunion organizers I would suggest using this service for the next event.

If it were me I would have had fiber optic feed to the servers and unlimited bandwidth for broadcasting.
Really disappointing when someone tries to save a buck on something when for a few more bucks the internet crowd could have participated at much better quality!
Clear video and crystal clear audio in 2015 is what most of us on the net have come to expect.
Not dial up level which is what we saw today.
The live feed would have looked like this had I been the sysop at this event...just saying...
The size of the video and the audio would have been exactly like this video example if not better.
