A Religious Spirit

This spirit operates out of old religious structures and attempts to maintain the status quo, favoring tradition over a genuine, intimate relationship with God. It influences believers to live the Christian life based on works instead of grace. Similar to the Greek way of thinking, the religious spirit depends on human effort to acquire spiritual knowledge and favor from God.

God save us!

Religious Spirit Self-Assessment
o You believe your faith life should remain separate from your work life.
o You’re motivated to share Christ out of duty.
o You can’t relate to non-believers because you’re afraid of rejection.
o You display a “better than they are” attitude toward nonbelievers.
o You are viewed by others as dogmatic and rigid (not simply a person of conviction).
o You feel compelled to be involved in religious activity and you can’t relax in your faith.
o You often feel guilty (not the same as the conviction of the Holy Spirit) for not sharing Christ with others.
o You often engage in religious debate.
o You need a packaged presentation in order to share the gospel.
o When talking about spiritual matters to strangers, you tend to talk about your church or ask about their church involvement versus talking about Jesus and their personal relationship with God.
o You have a difficult time socializing, loving or accepting those who do not believe the way you do.
o You are motivated by your church leadership out of guilt and Christian duty instead of loving devotion to Christ.
o You discourage change, preferring religious tradition.
o You believe that the ministry gifts listed in 1 Corinthians 12 and 14 and Ephesians 4:11 are no longer applicable today; or, if you believe they are valid, you think that they are for religious professionals, not for you.
o You form relationships for the purpose of achieving a religious activity rather than developing community from which Christ-like ministry flows naturally.
o Your loyalty to denominational structures is greater than your commitment to the kingdom of God and the entire Body of Christ.
o You view government as an “evil empire” from which we must separate instead of influence for good.
o You don’t see the need to work with other Christian ministry groups in a common effort; you usually feel that your way is the primary way and everyone should join your endeavor so as to not compromise your belief or doctrine.

In the New Testament, the Galatians started their Christian life simply by believing and having faith in God. However, somewhere along the road, they were influenced to live their lives by focusing on rules and regulations and to live according to their own human effort. Read the apostle Paul’s words as he confronted the believers in Galatia about the effect of the religious spirit on their lives:

You foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? Before your very eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed as crucified. I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by observing the law, or by believing what you heard? Are you so foolish? After beginning with the Spirit, are you now trying to attain your goal by human effort? Have you suffered so much for nothing—if it really was for nothing? Does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you because you observe the law, or because you believe what you heard?
Gal. 3:1-5

Living according to rules and regulations and by our own human efforts is a trap set by the religious spirit that we can all fall into. However, it is not the abundant life that Jesus promised (see John 10:10). In Galatians 2:20-21, Paul describes how we should live our lives: "I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!"

In the Gospel of Matthew, we also read about a rich young ruler who was prevented from making a commitment to the one true God because of the religious spirit. Although he considered himself religious because he followed the laws, he had an idol in his life that prevented him from making a total or "sold-out" commitment to Jesus.

Now a man came up to Jesus and asked, "Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?" "Why do you ask me about what is good?" Jesus replied. "There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, obey the commandments." "Which ones?" the man inquired. Jesus replied, "‘Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false testimony, honor your father and mother,’ and ‘love your neighbor as yourself.’""All these I have kept," the young man said. "What do I still lack?"Jesus answered, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me." When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth
Matt. 19:16-22.

The rich young ruler wanted to gain God’s approval on his own terms by fulfilling the law. However, Jesus cut through the religious spirit by speaking to the heart of his issue. When the Early Church expanded its leadership, it commissioned Stephen, a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit, to active ministry.

"The word of God spread. The number of disciples in Jerusalem increased rapidly, and a large number of priests became obedient to the faith. Now Stephen, a man full of God’s grace and power, did great wonders and miraculous signs among the people" (Acts 6:7-8). Notice how Stephen began to make an impact on his city—by performing signs and wonders.

However, his work also stirred up the religious spirit, and Stephen became the first person martyred for his faith. God save us from our religious

Famine For The Word Of God

Amos 8:11
11Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD:

Millions have been spent on evangelistic enterprises since I first accepted Christ so long ago. There are hundreds of gospel messages on radio, television and the internet daily. Book shelves are full of Xthian materials telling every sort of angle point imaginable of how to do this and how to do that to increase your Xthian experience. Wonderfully eloquent preachers are everywhere. There are large prosperous Xthian organizations all across our nation.

But where are those who can propheticly bring to us the Word of God? Where are the prophets? There is a vacuum in Christianity today. There are missing persons...
Prophetic ministry is the recovery of God's full purpose and thoughts towards His people.

A handfull of men and women turned their world upside down as they proclaimed the Lordship and Saviourhood of Jesus Christ. The book of Acts shows a people working together with a sense of purpose, not organizations with missionary enterprises throwing money and people around while the world is still not evangelized.
The institutionalism, ecclesiasticism, commercialism, organizationalism has not been able to do the work and purpose of God.

In the year that Paul the apostle died there were churches in Jerusalem, Nazareth, Caesarea, Antioch and all Syria; Galatia; Sardis, Laodicea, Ephesus and all the towns on the West coast throughout lesser Asis; in Philippi, Thessalonica, Athens, Corinth, and chief cities of the islands and the mainland of Greece; Rome, and the Western Roman Colonies; and in Alexandria.

How did a few unknown men and women, looked upon as poor and ignorant, associated with one 'Jesus of Nazareth'-which very designation was despicable in the minds of all reputable and influential people, accomplish so much?

With all that we have today, why can't we produce the same fruit?

The Word of God says...He gave some...prophets. People with a special function and faculty among God's people. Voices of interpretation and explanation, voices that interpret the mind of God to people.

Prophets bring a declaration and a pronouncement of God's mind to the course and drift of things to God's people. They bring about a clear view of the thoughts of God against the prevailing course of things. God's purpose has to be reached in God's way and by God's means. Not by man's methods, ideas, programs and schemes.
God could have said to Moses, "build Me a tabernacle, ok? I leave it to you how you do it, what you use, for you know what I am after. But God didn't do it that way. God did not leave a single detail up to Moses. Every peg, stitch and thread was dictated by God.

God sends His prophets where needed to bring about detailed knowledge of God's purposes and intentions. Only the Holy Spirit of God is acquainted with all the thoughts of God and He alone can speak and work and bring things about in true consistency with Divine principles.

The Church is the Body of Christ- a heavenly thing. Not an earthly thing. It is related to Christ in Heaven, Christ the head.

The mind of God comes to us through the Holy Spirit. He is in charge, not man. Therefore there is knowledge that is imparted to us by means of revelation and the Word of God.

With this knowledge we can be in conformity to God's thoughts.
So it is that often God uses people to remind us of His thoughts, eternal counsel and vision brought to us.

Those who are among us that God will use to speak His Words through, get our attention. We react to what they bring to us. We respond towards heaven. We, as the Bride of Christ are uplifted to see Jesus our beloved. We are brought into relationship with Christ.

Where are the prophets? There is a famine in the land for the Word of the Lord!

The Common Trinity Emphasis

The trinity of modern day Christianity best suited to their emphasis could be described as Father, Son, and Holy Bible. A personal relationship with the Holy Ghost as a person is almost never talked about and in most cases is subtly discouraged by church leaders. When on occasion, they do teach on the Holy Spirit, the vocabulary is radically redefined.

The revolutions that have occurred in culture which have taken place in the vocabularies of technology, psychology, medicine, politics and religion have little regard for biblical truth. The terminology used in teaching on the Holy Spirit has been retranslated into a language that is foreign to that of the Holy Scriptures.

It is therefore possible for evangelical theologians to use the terminology of the Bible and historic theology, but in an entirely different sense from that intended by the writers of Scripture.

A personal encounter with the Holy Ghost has been radically redefined to diminish the expectancy of new believers to a possible warm sensation or a slightly detectable energy field.

Biblical terms that refer to the work of the Holy Spirit in Historic Christianity are redesigned in a theological framework but in direct variance with the historically accepted meanings of the terms.

A church that rejects the Holy Spirit encounter may sound as if they are in perfect agreement with those who receive the power of the Holy Ghost, while in reality they are miles apart. This language barrier of terminology has a way of replacing the manifested presence of God by establishing a false sense of unity.

The fellowship becomes nominal and frustrating because the vocabulary is in agreement but the definitions are not. Non-charismatic religion that shuns the ministry of the Holy Ghost may give the appearance of agreeing with nearly every statement the Spirit filled Christian makes but at the same time young Christians in their church’s are not taught to seek the baptism of the Holy Spirit. They don’t even know that such an encounter with God exists.

Religion may talk of God as trinity, but their concept of God is divine principles – Life, Truth and Love. Many devout Christians have a form of godliness but deny the power of God. They may be very sincere in their mental ability to serve God, but yielding to the Holy Spirit is more than surrendering ones mental concepts of serving God for reevaluation. It is to receive a baptism from heaven.

Spread The Good News Of Jesus Christ

Every Christian Should Share The Gospel Message.

The only thing that you as a Christian can not do in Heaven is share the Gospel message with the unsaved. What you do down here on earth now matters for all eternity. I despise the damnable attitude that "not everyone can evangelize."  Every Christian can and should share their faith with others.

Luke 11:33
No man, when he hath lighted a candle, putteth it in a secret place, neither under a bushel, but on a candlestick, that they which come in may see the light.

This is more then the so called "life style evangelism." This is proactive sharing of the Gospel. Actually going out and sharing with the unsaved. Have you ever done that?

James 5:20
Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.

Not only that but save someone for eternity. Jesus saves. Jesus came here on earth to make a way of salvation. It was important to the trinity. It should be important to you. More then building churches, more then meetings.

Jesus gave up His life on earth for our salvation.

2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Matthew 18:14
Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.

All of us 'Jesus People' got it. We knew how to share proactively with the unsaved. We were very good at sharing with others.

But today we are losing the youth in America.

We have to allow the Holy Spirit to take control of the Church if we want to win the youth for Christ in this generation.
"The study shows that 16- to 29-year-olds exhibit a greater degree of criticism toward Christianity than did previous generations when they were at the same stage of life. In fact, in just a decade, many of the Barna measures of the Christian image have shifted substantially downward, fueled in part by a growing sense of disengagement and disillusionment among young people. For instance, a decade ago the vast majority of Americans outside the Christian faith, including young people, felt favorably toward Christianity’s role in society. Currently, however, just 16% of non-Christians in their late teens and twenties said they have a "good impression" of Christianity."

May the Holy Spirit convict us for thinking otherwise. We need to get out there and do the work of the Gospel. we need to witness. We have this truth and this incredible power of God backing us up and we are being passive and stagnant when it comes to spreading the Gospel. O but we give to others to do what we are to be doing. Truth be told, every one of those "others" live a better more profitable earthly life then you or I do. Everyone of them. Don't think so? Go look at your pastors home and at his job security that you provide him. Check out how well off his children and his children's children are doing.

Romans 10:15

And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

1 Corinthians 9:14

Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel.

1 Corinthians 9:12

... Nevertheless we have not used this power; but suffer all things, lest we should hinder the gospel of Christ.

1 Corinthians 9:17

For if I do this thing willingly, I have a reward.

1 Corinthians 9:18

What is my reward then? Verily that, when I preach the gospel, I may make the gospel of Christ without charge, that I abuse not my power in the gospel.

Proverbs 11:30

The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.

Get that? Is Wise...

"The Priest Are Unfit To Minister," Pastor Brant Baker Of Shekinah Fellowship, Long Beach CA

'

Another Brant Baker Video here

Who are you remembering today?

I remember all of my family members.

The 1775 Lexington Alarm Colonial War And I.

My ancestors fought for my country of my birth America. The first battle of the Revolutionary War, fought in Massachusetts on April 19, 1775. British troops had moved from Boston toward Lexington and Concord to seize the colonists’ military supplies and arrest revolutionaries. In Concord, advancing British troops met resistance from the Minutemen, and American volunteers harassed the retreating British troops along the Concord-Lexington Road. Paul Revere, on his famous ride, had first alerted the Americans to the British movement. My family was there and we fought for our country!

Beyond a doubt we Sloanes are descended from patriots that marched on the alarm of 1775. From the
archives; MASSACHUSETTS Soldiers and Sailors of the Revolutionary War. The sons’, of David Slone b. abt. 1700, of Dorchesterand John Slone Jr., a grandson of David of Dorchester, all served in the Revolutionary War. Anyone tracing their lineage back to these patriots would prove SAR/DAR eligibility . I trace back to David of Dorchester (John, Timothy, Charles) can also prove eligibility through (Molly) Mary Polly Silvester (wife of Timothy) who was a daughter of Philip Silvester son of Benjamin Silvester.

I am also traced back to the Mayflower Pilgrims.
So is it any wonder that I am so passionate about America? That I am so concerned with the things that go on in America? My family has lived here from the beginning of this great nation and has fought for her freedom always.

David Sloane son of
Donald Sloane son of
Percy Sloane son of
Horace Sloane son of
Lyman Sloane son of
Charles Slone son of
Timothy Sloan son of
David Sloan
And the list goes on and on…
this is my country!

So when I do research and see what is going on in my country I get concerned as do many others. I am a voice that started a long time ago in America. There is a family heritage that belongs to me. I believe that as a family member of the founding fathers of this great nation my prayers and conversation with God over America have some value.

Today we are seeing strife. There is a battle in America.
Pray fervently.

There is room for all people at the cross no matter what age, race, or nationality. And when you become His child, He enlarges your heart to love all of His people even those who wounded you. He will make enough room in your heart to overlook the willful and hurtful transgressions of others. Whereas, you could not do this before you came to Christ.

Pray for peace in America.

In the gospel of John chapter four, Jesus gives us this same principle by loving and forgiving someone who would be considered as an outsider or even as an enemy. When He came to Jacob’s Well in Samaria, Jesus sat down and asked a woman of religious and cultural mixture for a drink. If a Jew, other than Christ had met that woman at the well, she would have been ignored and shunned because of her background, let alone her gender. Jesus did not allow anything to alter his deliberate treatment of her as being someone created and loved by God. That day she was given living water from God Himself.

If you want to continue to experience the same fullness as the woman at the well, you have to start by forgiving those the world says should be your enemy. You offer love and forgiveness, whether it is accepted or not. The moment you do, it will be as though you have dug out all the dirt from the old wells of Abraham, and living water will begin to flow again. Just think of the impact you would have in the workplace if you forgive a co-worker who had wounded you. Think how everyone on the job would marvel that you would actually reach out to this hurtful person and offer friendship to them again.

The sonnet on a plaque inside the pedestal that the statue of Liberty stands reads:
“Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.”

The only Statue of Liberty inscription can be found on the tablet in her left hand, which says JULY IV MDCCLXXVI (July 4, 1776), the day the United States adopted the Declaration of Independence.

America is independent. America is free. Let us keep it that way.
God has chosen the United States of America to lead the way for Christian Freedom as we await the return of our Lord.

See some awesome highRez pics of Mars!
"In a recent batch of images beamed back to Earth from Mars rover Curiosity's MAHLI camera, obvious signs of wear and tear could be seen in the 'skin' of the robot's wheels. Considering Curiosity is only 281 sols (Mars days) into its mission and roved less than a kilometer after landing, surely this doesn't bode well? Fortunately, there's good news. 'The wear in the wheels is expected,' Matt Heverly, lead rover driver for the MSL mission at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif., told Discovery News. 'We will continue to characterize the wheels both on Mars and in the Marsyard, but we don't expect the wear to impact our ability to get to Mt. Sharp.'"

Ever notice how the news usually is always dark and low. Here is some good news...

Tesla Motors announced today it has completely repaid the $465 million loan from the U.S. Department of Energy the company received in 2010. The funds were generated by Tesla through a recent sale of their stock, worth close to a billion dollars. The stock price had risen sharply after the company reported its first profitable quarter (and the stock still sits roughly 50% higher than before their earnings release). Today's payment of $451.8 million finished off both the loan's principal and its interest, nine years before the final payment was due. Tesla CEO Elon Musk said, 'I would like to thank the Department of Energy and the members of Congress and their staffs that worked hard to create the ATVM program, and particularly the American taxpayer from whom these funds originate. I hope we did you proud.'

I want a Tesla even more now.

After Linus Pauling wrote his book on vitamin C in 1970, mortality from heart disease decreased 30-40% in the USA. From around 741,000 deaths per year to less than 500,000 deaths by 1986 - U. S. Bureau of National Health Statistics 1986. Vitamin C saves lives.

"A BBC story reports that scientists at Albert Einstein College of Medicine at Yeshiva University found Vitamin C kills drug resistant tuberculosis (abstract). Though results are preliminary — the lead investigator of the study said, 'We have only been able to demonstrate this in a test tube, and we don't know if it will work in humans and in animals' — this is an exciting development in the fight against drug-resistant TB."

In Norway vitamin C above 200 mg is illegal. You need a perscription to obtain it. Same in Germany and Australia . Why? Because big Pharma wants to control supplements and charge high prices for it. It is all about

pharmaceutical profits

Why would those other nations vote to restrict vitamins? Mostly because of pressures from pharmaceutical giants such as Shering-Plough etc...

"Google on Tuesday released Chrome version 27 for Windows, Mac, and Linux. The new version features a big boost to page loads (now 5 percent faster on average) as well as significant updates for developers. The speed improvement is thanks to the introduction of 'smarter behind-the-scenes resource scheduling,' according to Google. Starting with this release, the scheduler more aggressively uses an idle connection and demotes the priority of preloaded resources so that they don’t interfere with critical assets."

Lack Of Integrity By Phone Companies Exposed Twice?

"Scripps News reporters discovered 170,000 records online of customers of Lifeline, a government program offering affordable phone service for low-income citizens, that contained everything needed for identity theft . Last year, the FCC 'tightened' the rules for the program by requiring Lifeline phone carriers to document applicants' eligibility, which led to collecting more sensitive information from citizens. A Scripps News investigative team claims it 'Googled' the phone companies TerraCom Inc. and YourTel America Inc. to discover all of the files. A Scripps reporter asked for an on-camera interview with the COO of TerraCom and YourTel after explaining the files were freely available online. That did not happen, but shortly thereafter the customer records disappeared from the internet. Then, the blame-the-messenger hacker accusations and mudslinging began. Although the Scripps reporters videotaped the process showing how they found the documents, attorney Jonathon Lee for both telecoms threatened the 'Scripps Hackers' with violating the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA)."

The maker of iPhones and iPads used at least three foreign subsidiaries that it claims are not 'tax resident in any nation' to help it avoid paying billions in 'otherwise taxable offshore income,' the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations said in a statement yesterday."  "Location is everything when choosing the site of a data center. Firms such as Microsoft and Google and Facebook spend a lot of time looking into the costs of land, power, regulation and taxes before placing their respective data centers in a particular place. Sometimes, that local tax bill comes into play in a big way. Just ask the National Security Agency which learned it faces a multimillion-dollar annual state tax on the power consumed by its new data center in Camp Williams, south of Salt Lake City. The Salt Lake Tribune obtained a series of email exchanges between the feds and the state, with the NSA protesting a $2.4 million tax on its annual power expenditure, pegged at about $40 million. Harvey Davis, director of installations and logistics for the NSA, sent a letter (subsequently quoted by the newspaper) to state officials that made the logistics argument: 'Long-term stability in the utility rates was a major factor in Utah being selected as our site for our $1.5bn construction at Camp Williams. Best press release ever? Best press release ever.

Greenwich, Conn. has long been known for its pricey ZIP codes, enviable proximity to New York City, and of course, a diaspora of wealthy Wall Street residents that has earned it a nickname as the hedge fund capital of the country. Now the tony town will be known for something else: as the location of America’s most expensive home for sale.

Some people lack common sense
Watch for it!

My wife and I don't eat meat and we only buy certified organic fruits, nuts and vegetables. We have one free range chicken in the back yard for our fresh eggs. With all of the messing around with genetic engineering of our food and all of the antibiotics and steroids in animal husbandry we made the switch. Monsanto is upset!

Dear Consumers: A disturbing trend has come to our attention. You, the people, are thinking more about health, and you’re starting to do something about it. This cannot continue.

All of the natural food places where we go are usually packed out with people of all ages and economic stata and demographics. It is not just the hippies anymore.

Forecasting Weather

"After being embarrassed when the Europeans did a better job forecasting Sandy than the National Weather Service Congress allocated $25 million ($23.7 after sequestration) in the Sandy relief bill for upgrades to forecasting and supercomputer resources. The NWS announced that their main forecasting computer will be upgraded from the current 213 TeraFlops to 2,600 TFlops by fiscal year 2015, over a twelve-fold increase. The upgrade is expected to increase the horizontal grid scale by a factor of 3 allowing more precise forecasting of local features of weather. The some of the allocated funds will also be used to hire some contract scientists to improve the forecast model physics and enhance the collection and assimilation of data."

Not hard to predict weather these days. If you know where the chemtrailers are laying down intense lines and if you know where HAARP is being deployed you can make an educated guess as to where a weather event will erupt. The recent weather event in America could have been predicted...

Daddys Babies Love Him!

Tilson Shumate The Visionary Prophet

VISITATION ON GOOD FRIDAY

Sometime in the early 90’s a friend of mine talked me into a five-day fast. I was reluctant at first, but wound up agreeing. It was a five-day fast which would end at noon on Good Friday. Early Friday morning, God spoke eleven words to me. He began with five, "Do you want to travel?" I felt myself leaving my body.

Years earlier, I had a similar experience, although fear gripped me and it cancelled the encounter completely. I wanted to be sure that I could come back to my body, if I left. This time I was not about to let fear rob me. I just lay there for a moment and then answered, "Yes." You cannot go wrong with God when your answer is yes.

I rose from my body: beginning at my feet, until I was hovering above myself, but not at a standstill. "So the spirit lifted me up, and took me away…" (Ezekiel 3:14). I was slowly moving with God in the direction of the Holy Land. We began to pick up speed until I was traveling with the sensation of incredible speed. When we began to slow down, we were slightly curving to the left as we made our descent.
It was then that I began to read big bold letters written across the land, as on a map__E T H I O P I A. Then off to the right I began to read the word Somalia, but it seemed insignificant to the vision, so I looked straight ahead and said, "What is this big white area?" God didn’t answer that question, but said six more words, "This is the tip of Ethiopia." With that, I was instantly back home in my body and fully awake. I drew a map of what I saw, and went to the Good Friday service.

When I arrived home, my wife and son could hardly wait to show me how accurate the lines of my drawing matched up to a world map. For the next several weeks, that map of "The tip of Ethiopia" appeared on all the major news networks. They were reporting on the events taking place in Somalia, but I knew it was a smoke screen for something of much greater magnitude.

That vision, for lack of a better word, had to do with temple treasure. I believe the Ark of the Covenant was being airlifted by helicopter, out of Ethiopia into Israel, or perhaps remains at what God called, "The tip of Ethiopia."

Prior to that, I fasted alone in Israel on and off for twenty-one days and spent a few nights in a cave on the Mount of Temptation, alone. My hair grew thicker and my eyesight became crystal clear. We are told that understanding comes with age, yet to this day I still do not understand why I seemed to be getting younger on that trip. However, I do know that I had nothing to do with arranging the five-day fast that led to my vision of Ethiopia.

Yesterday, the Lord said, "I am changing the look in your eyes." I thought of it as a spiritual thing but also knew it had to do with a look of being dialed in or focused. Later that night I noticed that God had removed scar tissue that had formed on my eye from about the time of my Ethiopia vision many years ago.
Just last week I decide it was time to have it scraped off. It looked like a jelly fish stuck to my eye and for the last few years several of my friends have said it’s gotten really big and that I should see about having it removed. Last week I finally started calling some eye doctors but became discouraged with all the stuff they put you through with appointments and insurance talk, so I said to a friend," I’m just going to start asking God to remove it."

Now only a few days later it’s gone, completely gone. Today my wife and I could not see any trace of a raised blob. It was flattened out and all you could see was an outline of where it once was. That thing has been there for well over fifteen years and within a week of asking God to remove it, it’s gone! That is no coincidence. But I wonder is it also tied in with the timing of my vision of Ethiopia when God said, "Do you want to travel."

On my birthday, March 7th, a man and woman who I just met a few days earlier took me to lunch for my birthday. The next day they called and said, "We want to invite you to travel with us to Africa for two weeks and we will pay for everything." A few days later they invited both my wife and I to join them on a ministry trip to China, Asia and Laos. "Do you want to travel?" YES!

What is God about to do in Africa?

Biblical Oddity

The missing day of Joshua

This urban legend refers to a computer program at NASA which experienced an apparent bug. In some versions of the legend, Mr. Harold Hill, president of the Curtis Engine Company in Baltimore Maryland publicized the event.

The NASA computers were running a program that computed the locations of the sun, moon, and planets at any time in the future or past. The purpose of the program was to prevent artificial satellites from colliding with these objects. This allegation is a good indication that the story is an urban legend.

Even satellites which are in geosynchronous orbit are only 22,241 miles (35,786 kilometers) above the surface of the earth, whereas the moon is more than ten times further away, and the sun and planets are tens of millions of miles from earth. So there is no possibility of a collision, and thus no need for such a program.

The legend maintains that the program allegedly failed consistently at a specific date in the past. Exactly 23 hours and 20 minutes was missing back in the time of Joshua. Someone at NASA allegedly went back to his/her office, read Joshua 10:12-13, (which talks about an interval of missing time approximately one day in duration) and the account of Isaiah's visit to Hezekiah in 2 Kings 20:8-11 when God was said to have caused the sun to go backwards by 10 degrees and produce an additional 40 minutes lost time. This information accounted precisely for the entire loss of time.

The main problem with this legend is that computer programs couldn't fail in this way, even if a day were missing; the program would continue to subtract dates in times in increments of 24 hours.

NASA's Public Affairs office has stated that "There is no truth to the recurring story that NASA uncovered a lost day in the movement of the Earth." However, Harold Hill publicized the legend in one of his books "How to Live Like a Kings' Kid."

Snopes.com comments that this is a very important urban legend for those who believe in the inerrancy of the Bible:
It shows that the Bible is literally true, even though its description of missing time seems very strange to-day.

It shows that the Bible knows more about science than do the scientists. Scientists and religion collided and the Bible is proven superior.

Unfortunately the legend is not true.

Recently we did some work for an awesome man of God who has worked for Proctor and Gamble for around 25 years. He is a major component of Saddle-back church. Naturally I had to ask him about the P&G Logo and what he knew about it...

Proctor &Gamble and Satanism:
The P & G logo was originally a cross within a circle - a symbol used on one of their 19th century products: star candles. Over time, the cross evolved into a star, then the single star became 13 stars - one for each of the 13 American colonies. A man in the moon was added around the end of the 19th century; this was a widespread image at the time - something like the "smiley face" is today.

The present logo design was created in 1930.
Rumors started to circulate in 1980 that P & G had been brought out by the Unification Church. The legend then took an sudden, interesting twist. The logo was said to be a Satanic symbol. The novel Michelle Remembers had been published about this time. It was presented as a documentary of Satanic Ritual Abuse, and triggered a Satanic panic throughout North America.

The P & G story expanded to include an allegation that the company was supporting Satanic cults with 10% of their profits. Then, an executive of the company was said to have admitted that "due to the openness of our society," he was announcing his company's connection with Satanism on a TV talk show. No one was quite able to specify exactly which show or which episode was involved.

It was said that you could connect the 13 stars with lines that would spell out 666, the number associated with the Antichrist in the Book of Revelation. Looking at the beard of the old man with a mirror, the number 666 is said to be visible.

The chairman of the board of P & G was supposed to have sold his soul to the Devil. "Proctor & Gamble worked very hard to counteract the rumors, issuing press releases, instigating legal action and even soliciting the support of leading Christian fundamentalists who announced their faith in the purity of the company."

By early 1991, the company had answered over 150,000 telephone calls and letters concerning the myth. In the early 1990's a couple in Kansas was found to have spread the rumor; P & G was awarded $75,000 in damages. They have filed at least 15 lawsuits against individual rumor mongers.

A trial began on 1999-MAY-3 in which Procter & Gamble are suing Amway distributors for allegedly reviving the Satanic rumors in 1995. P & G spokesperson Elaine Plummer commented: "It's a malicious lie that erodes the trust of customers and has cost us millions of dollars in sales."

Defense attorney Charles Babcock replied: "This rumor was started in churches...and Amway didn't have a thing to do with it. A few Amway independent distributors talked about the rumor - not in a mean-spirited way but in an informational way.''

The latest rumor is that the head of P&G appeared on the Sally Jesse Raphael Show on 1998-MAR-1. He allegedly repeated the 1980 comments: that his company was associated with the Church of Satan, that a large portion of their profits are donated to the Church. When asked whether this openness would cause economic consequences, he allegedly replied "There are not enough Christians in the United States to make a difference."

The executive producer of "Sally" has issued a statement saying that no executive from P&G has eve appeared on the show.

Variations of this rumor involve Ray Kroc of McDonalds, and an executive from Liz Clairborn; both are alleged to have Satanic connections. Merv Griffin, 60 Minutes, and Oprah Winfrey are other shows where P&G interviews are alleged to have occurred. Every element of the rumor is completely baseless.

And  there you have...

I Was In On The Last Great Outpouring Of The Holy Spirit

One of my oldest friends just sent me these pictures. That is my dog James that I was given when he was only 4 weeks old. James lived to be 13 years old. I fed him Kal Kan dog food his whole life exclusively. He eventually got a cancerous tumor on his neck and I had to put him down. I was in deep pain for 3 months solid after that.
.
This is a picture of me at 19 years old. A typical Jesus Freak of the day. I turn 62 this month. Life has passed so quickly. I lost a friend that I have known since I was thirteen just last week. Makes you reflect on your own existence.
.
The one thing that I miss the most is the genuine moving of the Holy Spirit. Not the 'pretend' moving of the Holy Spirit, but the really real event. Those were some of the best times of my life. Every second of every day was so full of divine appointments!

Just before passing away Lonnie Frisbee told me that myself and other Christians of my generation were cursed in a sense. "Why," I asked? It was because all of us who had tasted of the real outpouring of the Holy Spirit  would spend the rest of our lives looking for it and never quite finding it.

When I shared this with Jim Ewing he told me that is not true. There will be another outpouring in our life time.

Today I see a dead church full of it's own self. Pretending that nothing has changed. As if it still had it. But those of us who were in on the last truly great outpouring of the Spirit of God know better. We just can not be fooled.
.
You never forget the real deal once you have personally experienced it.
While I helped build the Calvary Chapel mother ship back in 1972 James was always there with me. Everyone knew and loved that sweet collie dog. He was so alive and ready to chase after anything that was thrown for him to fetch.
.
James was never around non~Christians for the first four years of his life. I would work at Calvary Chapel with him during the day and be around Christians during the night. One day someone at work came up to me and said, "David, James is freaking out on a man around the corner."
.
I went there to see what was up. James was stiff and all bristled up and barking loudly at the man whom he had cornered against a wall. Turns out that the man was a non~Christian who had wandered onto the job site looking for someone to ask when the apartments would be finished. James had never seen a non~Christian before and instinctively knew something was not right with him!
.
I told the man that we were building a place for Christians to meet together and worship Jesus Christ.
.
I got the privilege of leading him to the Lord Jesus. How weird that James made a distinction between saved and unsaved people. But he had actually never been around non Christians all that much, so there must have been a distinction between Christians and non Christians that James could detect.
.
I hope that I will see James again one day. There are animals in heaven, Jesus is mentioned riding a white horse in the Bible. So there has to be animals in heaven I guess.
.
Thanks Tony Meston for the memories!
Love David

“Calvary Chapel never asks for money. We avoid pressuring our members for ‘faith pledges’ and no appeal for funds
is ever made over our radio or television outreaches. Our feeling is that begging for money brings discredit to God.”
- Harvest, pp. 14

Ya but umm...recall that 'Jesus People Reunion' at the Anaheim Duck Pond? 16,000 Jesus People back in 1999 on Saturday the 24th, "our 30th high school reunion." The message that day was, "The all-sufficiency of Jesus Christ."

You kind of told us that the event ran Calvary Chapel eighty thousand dollars prior to passing the donation buckets around...oops...you turned red faced, smiled big and made an immediate attempt to back peddle and negate the comment by saying something like, "And if you have needs, dig in as the bucket passes by you."

Lol, someone took off their tennis shoes and put them in the bucket at that particular collection. Don't quite know to this day what the shoeless person was trying to convey if anything.

To err is to make a mistake. To make a mistake is human. Humans are not perfect. They make mistakes. To make a mistake is to be human.

To err is human; to forgive, infrequent.
Franklin P. AdamsUS journalist (1881 - 1960)

In all honesty that was the only time I have ever heard you mention an events cost publicly in over 40 years! That is an incredible testimony to the statement, "When God guides, God provides. The calling of God is the enabling of God. God doesn't call the qualified, He makes those whom He calls qualified."
A while back a local church named after our local mountain around here put out a call for funds to remain in existence. Something about the 'needs' of ministering to people. The faithful of God responded to the tune of around 10 million $.
I can only imagine what came in those buckets that day when the Grand Father of the Jesus People Movement gave his only call for funds ever in a sense to his spiritual children and spiritual grand children. I hope they responded in a wonderful way even to the point of giving their shoes...for that was indeed a worthy cause to give to.

We all had such a blessed time together. Darrell Mansfield, Daniel Amos, Malcolm and Alwyn, Mustard Seed Faith, Parable, Kenn Gulliksen, The Way, Ernie and Debbie Retino, and Love Song were all present. Well, there was one obvious absentee, The Children of the Day. Something about Marsha.

For Those Tears I Died and "Children of the Day"
Shortly after becoming a born-again Christian in 1969, Stevens-Pino wrote "For Those Tears I Died (Come to the Water)", a song that was to become widely known and sung in Christian churches and youth-groups across the United States. Utilizing her songwriting and singing talents with sister Wendy Carter and friends Peter Jacobs and Russ Stevens, the Contemporary Christian Music group known as "Children of the Day" was formed. An entry in The Encyclopedia of Contemporary Christian Music states: "If Larry Norman is to be called the father of Christian Rock, then Marsha Stevens certainly deserves to be known as the mother of contemporary Christian music...

She was the leader of what is considered to be the world's first contemporary Christian music group, Children of the Day, and she has continued as a solo artist to produce albums of worship-oriented and edifying adult contemporary pop. As such, she remains the progenitor of what, by 2002, would become the single most popular genre in the contemporary Christian music market."

Today Marsha has cooties. As a result Stevens-Pino reports that more than once she has received, by mail, ripped out and torn up hymnal and songbook pages upon which was printed, For Those Tears I Died. Way to go you expressive loving xthians!

A Real Person

Jesus (The) Christ

Thallus

Thallus was a historian who lived in the middle of the first century C.E. His writings focus partly on the historical events of the Roman empire of the first century C.E. We do not have his original works, written around 52 C.E., but we do have the writings of men who referred to his work.

Julius Africanus, an early church father, writing in the year 221 C.E. wrote about the writings of Thallus. In a document written by Julius Africanus, there is a discussion about the darkness that was recorded by the writers of the New Testament at the time of the crucifixion of Jesus.

"Now from the sixth hour until the ninth hour there was darkness over all the land." [That is, from noon to 3:00pm.] (Matthew 27:45)

Now the skeptic might easily dismiss this event, recorded in the gospel of Matthew, as mere dramatics, an attempt to dress up the crucifixion event with some supernatural imagery. However, the darkness which occurred at the time of a full moon was recorded by Thallus.

Africanus notes that Thallus had attempted to explain away the event:

"Thallus, in the third book of his history explains away the darkness as an eclipse of the sun, unreasonably as it seems to me."

Africanus, writing in the year 221 C.E., had access to the writings of Thallus. Thallus in his third book wrote that this darkness, which occurred during the reign of Caesar Tiberius, was a result of an eclipse of the sun. Africanus makes the point that this could not have been a solar eclipse, because the crucifixion took place at Passover, which always occurs during a full moon. During a full moon, there can be no solar eclipse, and Africanus recognized this.

An interesting aspect of this reference is that Thallus does not try to deny the existence of Jesus of Nazareth, the occurrence of his crucifixion nor the historical fact that the darkness occurred. He presents Jesus of Nazareth as an historical person, and the darkness as an historical event. His motive in writing about the darkness is to explain it as a natural event.

Philopon

Philopon, a sixth-century secular historian, wrote regarding Phlegon as well. He wrote:

"And about this darkness...Phlegon recalls it in his book The Olympiads."

Like Thallus, Phlegon verifies the historical existence of Jesus of Nazareth and the historicity of the darkness which occurred during the reign of Tiberius Caesar. These common threads occurring in the writings of two men who were not Christians, is powerful evidence that Jesus is an historical figure and an unnatural darkness(not an eclipse) occurred during his life.

Tacitus

Cornelius Tacitus, born circa 52-55 C.E., became a senator in the Roman government under Emperor Vespasian. He was eventually promoted to governor of Asia. Writing in the year 116 C.E., in his Annals, he writes of the burning of Rome in 64 C.E. And how Caesar Nero had tried to stop the rumor that he (Nero) was behind the destruction.

"Therefore, to scotch the rumor (that Nero had burned Rome) Nero substituted as culprits, and punished with the utmost refinements of cruelty, a class of men, loathed for their vices, whom the crowd styled Christians. Christus, the founder of the name, had undergone the death penalty in the reign of tiberius, by sentence of the procurator Pontius Pilatus, and the pernicious superstition was checked for a moment, only to break out once more, not merely in Judea, the home of the disease, but in the capital itself, where all things horrible or shameful in the world collect and find a vogue...They [the Christians] were covered with wild beasts' skins and torn to death by dogs; or they were fastened on crosses, and, when daylight failed were burned to serve as lamps by night. Nero had offered his gardens for the spectacle, and gave an exhibition in his circus, mixing with the crowd in the habit of a charioteer, or mounted on his car. Hence, in spite of a guilt which had earned the most exemplary punishment, there arose a sentiment of pity, due to the impression that they were being sacrificed not for the welfare of the state but to the ferocity of a single man."

This amazing document verifies that Jesus, or Christus, was a true historical figure, that he lived and was killed during the reign of Caesar Tiberius, that he was sentenced under Pontius Pilate and that by about 64 C.E., Christianity had spread rapidly throughout the Roman empire. Tacitus verifies that Christians were viciously tortured by Nero only 32 years after the death of Jesus of Nazareth. The historical validity of this letter by Tacitus is doubted by very few scholars. According to some scholars, Tacitus is:

"Universally considered the most reliable of historians, a man in whom sensibility and imagination, though lively, could never spoil a critical sense rare in his time and a great honesty in the examination of the documents." [Amoit, Francois; Brunot, Amedee; Danielou, Jeah; Daniel-Rops, Henri. The Sources for the Life of Christ. Translated by P.J. Herpburne-Scott. New York; Hawthorn Books, 1962, pg. 16.]

Emperor Hadrian

During the period when Hadrian was emperor of Rome, 117-138 C.E., there continued to be tremendous persecution of Christians. Serenius Granianus, the governor of Asia at that time, wrote a letter to Emperor Hadrian asking for his advice regarding how he should handle the Christians. Hadrian wrote back to Serenius' successor, Minucius Fundanus, his response. This letter was preserved by Eusebius. This is an excerpt;

"I do not wish, therefore, that the matter should be passed be without examination, so that these men may neither be harassed, nor opportunity of malicious proceedings be offered to informers. If, therefore, the provincials can clearly evince their charges against the Christians, so as to answer before the tribunal, let them pursue this course only, but not by mere petitions, and mere outcries against the Christians. For it is far more proper, if anyone would bring an accusation, that you should examine it."

This fascinating letter from the Roman emperor himself verifies the historical existence of the church, the belief that Christians were trouble-makers, that Christianity was illegal at that time, and that Christians would be taken before a counselor simply for admitting that they were Christians. Though not a specific reference to Jesus of Nazareth, this very early historical reference to the church, its illegality in the Roman Empire and the persecutions (malicious proceedings) are powerful evidences for the rapid spread of the church within one generation of the life of Jesus. Therefore, this increases the reliability that Jesus was an historical figure and that the events surrounding his life were extraordinary, so much so that people were willing to die for the belief that he was the Messiah.

Lucian of Samosata

Lucan of Samosata, a Greek satirist, wrote a remarkable statement regarding the church in 170 C.E.

"The Christians, you know, worship a man to this day-the distinguished personage who introduced their novel rites, and was crucified on that account... You see, these misguided creatures start with the general conviction that they are immortal for all time, which explains the contempt of death and voluntary self-devotion which are so common among them; and then it was impressed on them by their original lawgiver that they are all brothers, from the moment that they are converted, and deny the Gods of Greece, and worship the crucified sage, and live after his laws. All this they take quite on faith, with the result that they despise all worldly goods alike, regarding them merely as common property."

That is quite a testimony. This letter confirms that Christians worshipped a crucified Jewish sage, that they faced death bravely, and that they despised worldly attributes. He explains this on the basis that Christians believed they were immortal and would spend eternity with God.

Mara Bar-Serapion

Mara Bar-Serapion, a Syrian and a stoic philosopher, wrote this letter to his son from prison sometime after 70 C.E.

"What advantage did the Athenians gain from putting Socrates to death? Famine and plague came upon them as a judgment for their crime. What advantage did the men of Samos gain from burning Pythagoras? In a moment their land was covered with sand. What advantage did the Jews gain from their executing their wise King? It was just after that that their kingdom was abolished. God justly avenged these three wise men: the Athenians died of hunger; the Samians were overwhelmed by the sea; the Jews, ruined and driven from their land, live in complete dispersion. But Socrates did not die for good; he lived on in the statue of Plato. Pythagoras did not die for good; he lived on in the statue of Hera. Nor did the wise King die for good; he lived on in the teaching which he had given."

This letter refers to Jesus of Nazareth as being the "wise King." The writer is obviously not a Christian because he places Jesus on a par with Pythagoras and Socrates. Consequently, the writer can hardly be described as biased in his reference to Jesus and the church. Therefore, it is a valuable historical reference regarding the historicity of Jesus. There are many other non-Christian historical sources for Jesus of Nazareth but since space is limited we will move on to rabbinical sources.

Ancient Rabbinical References to Y'shua (Jesus)

Of all the ancient historical sources for Jesus of Nazareth, the least favorably biased would have to be rabbinic in origin. There are actually quite a large number of such references to Jesus of Nazareth. The problem with the rabbinical writings is that they use names like "such and such" and "so and so" or "that man" when they refer to Jesus of Nazareth. Consequently, some of the references are considered to be unreliable. During the middle ages and the early renaissance, the Talmud and Midrash were cleaned up with the removal of most of the references to Jesus of Nazareth.

As expected, the remaining references to Jesus are very unflattering. However, they do verify a number of important historical facts that the gospels proclaim regarding Jesus of Nazareth. As mentioned earlier by Shlomo Pines, no one doubted that Jesus was an historical figure up until about two to three hundred years ago. The myth theory was created and perpetuated by atheists, agnostics and embraced by mainstream Judaism during the Renaissance.

In the Babylonian Talmud, which was compiled between the years 200-500 C.E., in Sanhedrin, 43a, there is a fascinating reference to Jesus of Nazareth:

"It has been taught: On the Eve of the Passover, they hanged Yeshu. And an announcer went out in front of him, for forty days saying: 'he is going to be stoned because he practiced sorcery and enticed and led Israel astray.' Anyone who knows anything in his favor, let him come and plead in his behalf.' But, not having found anything in his favor, they hanged him on the Eve of the Passover."

This is considered to be one of the very reliable rabbinical references to Jesus ("Yeshu"). The writer here verifies that Jesus of Nazareth was an historical figure, that he was crucified on the Eve of the Passover, and that he did miracles, referred to as sorcery. The supernatural events surrounding the life of Jesus were not denied, but verified. The miracles of Jesus were simply explained away as being from a demonic source, i.e., sorcery.

According to Jewish law it is illegal to perform capital punishment on the Eve of the Passover. However, this record verifies something that we wouldn't expect to find in a rabbinical source, the fact that the Sanhedrin acted illegally in condemning and crucifying Jesus on Passover. Consequently, this reference is even more valuable in terms of validating the historicity of Jesus. Certainly, if any passage should have been edited from the Talmud, it should have been this one. The fact that a passage which points out an illegal action was retained in the Talmud makes it a credible and valuable source for the historicity of Jesus.

In the Talmud, Sanhedrin 43a, it says,

"Our rabbis taught that Yeshu had five disciples: Matti, Necki, Netsur, Burni, and Toda."

Now one of those names we can recognize, Matti, the disciple named Matthew. Again it is considered by historians to be another reliable reference in the Talmud for the historicity Jesus of Nazareth.
Pliny the Younger
.
Pliny the Younger, the provincial governor of Pontus and Bithynia, wrote to Emperor Trajan c. 112 concerning how to deal with Christians, who refused to worship the emperor, and instead worshiped "Christus".
.
Those who denied that they were or had been Christians, when they invoked the gods in words dictated by me, offered prayer with incense and wine to your image, which I had ordered to be brought for this purpose together with statues of the gods, and moreover cursed Christ — none of which those who are really Christians, it is said, can be forced to do — these I thought should be discharged. Others named by the informer declared that they were Christians, but then denied it, asserting that they had been but had ceased to be, some three years before, others many years, some as much as twenty-five years. They all worshipped your image and the statues of the gods, and cursed Christ.

Maimonides

Maimonides was a very highly revered thirteenth century rabbi. There was a saying back during the thirteenth century that, "there was never a greater man than Maimonides except Moses." He was given the nickname, Rambam.

Maimonides wrote a fourteen volume work called the Mishne Torah. In this he made multiple references to the historical existence of Jesus of Nazareth. However, in the year 1631, Catholic and Jewish authorities censored the fourteenth volume, removing all references to Jesus. It was censored because there were multiple derogatory references to Jesus of Nazareth. During the Spanish inquisition certain members of the Catholic church used Maimonides' work, and his negative references about Jesus, to justify the killing of Jews. Consequently, these references were removed from most of the extant volumes of Maimonides' writings.

An excerpt from the uncensored versions of the Mishne Torah is a remarkable historical reference to Jesus.

"Jesus of Nazareth who aspired to be the Messiah and was executed by the court was also [alluded to] in Daniel's prophecies (Daniel 11:14), as 'the vulgar [common] among your people shall exalt themselves in an attempt to fulfill the vision, but they shall stumble.' Can there be a greater stumbling block than Christianity? All the prophets spoke of the Messiah as the Redeemer of Israel and its Savior, who would gather their dispersed and strengthen their [observation of] the Mitzvot [the commandments]. By contrast, [Christianity] caused the Jews to be slain by the sword, their remnant to be scattered and humbled, the Torah to be altered and the majority of the world to err and serve a god other than the Lord. Nevertheless, the intent of the Creator of the world is not within the power of man to comprehend, for his ways are not our ways, nor are his thoughts, our thoughts. [Ultimately,] all the deeds of Jesus of Nazareth and that Ishmaelite [Mohammed] who arose after him will only serve to prepare the way for the Messiah's coming and the improvement of the entire world [motivating the nations] to serve God together, as [Zephaniah 3:9] states: 'I will make the peoples pure of speech that they will all call upon the Name of God and serve him with one purpose.'"

Here Maimonides, writing in the thirteenth century, verifies that Jesus of Nazareth was executed by the Sanhedrin, that he aspired to be the Messiah, that he was referred to in the prophecies of Daniel as one of the sons of the lawless, and that Jesus of Nazareth led many astray.

It is fascinating that Maimonides calls Jesus and his church "a stumbling block." I don't think Maimonides remembered that the Tanakh states that the Messiah would be a stumbling block to both houses of Israel.

He will be as a sanctuary, but a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense to both the houses of Israel, as a trap and a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem."(Isaiah 8:14 )

Surely Jesus of Nazareth was an historical figure and his life, message, ministry was a stumbling block to the Jews of his day.
