Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. They that love Israel shall prosper. All Israel shall be saved, but not all who are of Israel are Israel. We who are saved are born again Christians and all Christians shall be saved, but not all who are of Christianity are Christians.
The veil that is upon Israel makes them blind as a bat when it comes to their messiah. Even though they are God’s elect, they are blind. Not totally blind, but blind in part.
1 Corinthians 13 tells us that we as believers only know in part, which could also mean blind in part. All Christianity, all Israel, and even completed Jews that have found Jesus as their messiah have partial blindness.
If the natural olive tree (the Jews) are partially blind, how then can we (the gentiles) who have been grafted in think that we are not also partially blind.
Christians who love the Lord, but reject the work of the Holy Ghost are blind in the area of spiritual gifts. They are toward their Holy Spirit, like The Jews are toward their messiah. They do not accept gifts of the Spirit such as speaking in tongues, prophecy, and modern day apostolic authority. They see salvation in Jesus, but not baptism by Jesus. They see the road to heaven, salvation and water baptism, but are totally blind when it comes to the baptism of the Holy Ghost.
In severe cases of this type of blindness within Christianity they cannot see the gifts and callings of God that were found in the early church as being for today. They are blind in part to the things of God that go beyond simple salvation. They see the Holy Spirit at work in evangelism but, that is only part of His work. If they are unable to see, they are also unable to understand.
It takes faith to be saved and it takes faith to walk where you cannot see. The gift of tongues often surrounds the baptism of the Holy Spirit. It happens when a child like willingness to receive replaces the preconceived opinions of man’s intellect.
Have you ever sought the gift of tongues, and if not, why haven’t you? It will revolutionize your Christianity. No matter how old you are or what you think you know we all have partial blindness. Until Jesus comes again, we only know in part. When we come to terms with that truth we humble our self in the sight of the Lord. It is then that we become able to receive what we cannot see or even begin to understand.
Revelation may come as a threat to what you thought, or were taught to believe. And it takes a humble heart to adjust to new insight.
Can you find it within yourself to bring yourself to seek the gift of tongues? Begin this exciting new adventure in your walk with God and start now. Just begin! Whatever form begin may take, begin.

"In defending his recent activities with Glenn Beck, David Barton wrote "By Their Fruits," in which he explained his belief that "no one has yet been to point to any instance where Glenn has attacked or undermined Christ or Christianity on any of his programs." He then suggests that Beck is a Christian, by asking "Is God using Glenn to help recover our national strength and health, both politically and spiritually? If so, why would God be using him?" Apparently Barton doesn't consider Glenn's denial of Jesus Christ as the ONLY way to heaven (salvation) as bad fruit."

"I plan on writing more of my thoughts on “watchbloggers” or ODMs at my new web site http://williamalnor.com (or .net or .org) in the near future. As some know, I am a former Calvary Chapel teacher and author and a founder of The Christian Sentinel magazine and of a former web site known as cultlink.

I do not endorse the discernment activities (on-line or not) of a relative working in this area, nor am I involved in any type of knowledge of that person’s writings (often attacks) until I hear about them well after the fact.
.
But here are some more important things that pastor Bosch writes in “Contentiously Contending” that I mentioned in my previous post here on PP. See http://www.antonbosch.org. (And he is hosting a discernment conference at his church in September.)
.
.
“Unfortunately, it has been my observation that many (not all) who get involved in apologetics ministries are not skilled at teaching. They live in isolation since they believe that they alone have the Truth. People like this often find it hard to relate to other people, let alone impart wisdom to others. Thus many of them sit in their glass houses, discern error and point fingers at those around them.
.
.
“Let me very very clear on this: No one who is not involved in a local church (no matter how small), and who does not regularly teach the TRUTH, has the right to teach against error.
.
.
“… Money is made out of books, tapes and speaking tours exposing the latest sins. Authors and speakers need to strike first since no one wants old news. Others need the scalps to feed their egos. And sadly, others just love the `excitement’ of the kill!”

If You Like The Blues...It Doesn't Get Any Better Then This
Stevie Ray Vaughan passed away twenty years ago today at the age of 35 in a helicoptor crash.
You Are Sitting Down Now...Get Up!
"Bad news for most of us here — The Chicago Tribune is reporting that even if you get plenty of exercise, sitting down all day reduces your lifespan. From the article: 'Even after adjusting for body mass index (BMI) and smoking, the researchers found that women who sit more than 6 hours a day were 37 percent more likely to die than those who sit less than 3 hours; for men, long-sitters were 17 percent more likely to die. People who exercise regularly had a lower risk, but still significant, risk of dying. Those who sat a lot and moved less than three and a half hours per day are the most likely to die early: researchers found a 94 percent increased risk for women and 48 percent increase for men, they announced recently in the American Journal of Epidemiology.'"

Demon Influence...
Demon Influence...
No one knows how many demons there are in the spiritual realm around the earth...but they are there none the less...loose, free to do the treacherous will of Satan until their final doom with their fiendish master.
Influence of human beings is clearly presented in Scripture. Although the subject is not prominently featured in the Old Testament, the New Testament abounds in references to demon influence and expellsion.
Just how is it possible for a spirit being to indwell and control a human being for evil purposes is not explained in the Word of God. Yet, of course, there is the antithetical truth that the child of God is both indwelt and directed by the Holy Spirit.
Belief in the possibility of demon influence is increased when we remember that the natural human being possesses a fallen nature. He is far from God. He is easily susceptible to Satanic error, and already is a member of the worldly kingdom of Satan; so in a sense, he is ruled by Satanic suggestion. It is not to far a step to believe that the body of the natural man can be indwelt by a member of the demonic host. This is not to suggest that all people who are not Christians are demon~controlled, but rather that there may be a thin line between the lost, depraved natural man and the demon~influenced soul.
In the New Testament times, demonstrations of demonic control were usually physical and violent (Matt. 9:32,33; 12:22-30; Mark 9:22; Luke 8:26-36). Demons were seen to bring about in men sickness, dumbness, deafness, deformity, insanity, and suicidal mania. The Lord did not explain how such affliction comes to be, but taught that such control is of Satan (Luke 11:14-26; 13:16).There is no reason to believe that demonic control is not possible today. In fact, there are documented instances of demonic influence (like that described in Scripture) and expellsion on every mission field.
Demon control seems to prevail in backward unevangelized lands.Nor is there reason to believe that demonic control cannot assume more enlightened aspects in this century. That is to say, while the goal of Satan is the same, to bring more and more of the world's population under his control, his method of using his demons could be, so to speak, on a higher plane.
Satan could dispatch his evil demons to indwell business leaders, college presidents, unbelieving theologians, and liberal ministers. Creating "Social gospels" of secular humanism, that lead no one to repentance at the cross of Christ for salvation. Making Christ just an "enlightened one" who was very good and someone who taught us how to live, not our Saviour.
"Demonized" people are not "Possessed". A person is not "owned" by a devil or a demon. Unfortunately this is an area of confusion that has not been cleared up in some of the modern translations of Scripture. The Greek noun daimon gives rise to a verb daimonizo, which occurs about twelve times in the New Testament. The obvious English equivalent of this verb is demonize, which Collins English Dictionary defines as "to subject to demonic influence."
In the New Testament this verb occurs in the passive form: "to be demonized." In the original KJV, it is translated regularly as "to be possessed of [or with] a devil or devils." Most modern versions have correctly changed devil to demon, but incorrectly retain the form to be possessed. The problem with this form of words is that, to English ears, the word possess immediately suggests ownership. To be "possessed"- by a devil or demon- implies that a person is "owned" by a devil or demon. But there is no basis for this in the Greek word daimonizo, which conveys no suggestion of ownership, but means merely "subject to demonic influence."
Obviously the form of words we use is of vital importance. It is one thing to say to a person, "You are subject to demonic influence." It is quite another to say, "You are possessed by the devil".Let me say emphatically that there is nothing in the verb daimonizo to imply possession.
Personally I believe that every born~again Christian sincerely seeking to live for Christ belongs to Christ and is owned by Him. It is monstrous to suggest that such a person belongs to the devil or is owned by the devil. On the other hand, Christians can be subject to demonic influences. Such a Christian undoubtedly belongs to Christ, yet there are areas of his or her personality that have not yet come under the control of the Holy Spirit. It is these areas that may still be an open door to demonic influence.
Which explains how some seemly spiritual men of God can suddenly do unexpected acts of carnality, like I described at the beginning of this study on Satan. Be on guard and ever watchful with the helmet of salvation, the shield of faith, the sword of the Word of God and the shoes of the Good News...because your enemy goes to and fro like a lion, seeking whom he may deceive, the very wise if he may.
Ancient Evidence for Jesus from Non-Christian Sources
Ancient Evidence for Jesus from Non-Christian Sources
It is always attention arresting to come across writings outside of the Biblical record that mention Jesus written by those who were around way back then...
"They were in the habit of meeting on a certain fixed day before it was light, when they sang in alternate verses a hymn to Christ, as to a god, and bound themselves by a solemn oath, not to any wicked deeds, but never to commit any fraud, theft or adultery, never to falsify their word, nor deny a trust when they should be called upon to deliver it up; after which it was their custom to separate, and then reassemble to partake of food--but food of an ordinary and innocent kind."

Thousands Urged to Throw Out Pre-Conceived Notions of Christianity
"I want you to throw out your pre-conceived notions about Christianity for a moment and think about what Jesus said," a national evangelist told thousands seated at the Amphitheater at California State University Stanislaus.
Some 48,000 people flocked to the Harvest Crusade with thousands more watching top Christian artists perform and Laurie preach via live webcasts. The evangelistic crusade has been months in the making, involving around 150 churches and 3,000 local volunteers.

Sir I said Do Not Move While We are In Motion...
It is a very delicate activity
It has been said that a meeting where the gifts of the Holy Spirit are allowed to be freely exercised is a balancing act.
Think of it as if a circle of people are carefully passing around a tray with glasses of water upon it. They are trying very carefully not to spill the water as they pass the tray from one to another.
One speaks out in tongues, another gives an interpretation, while another sings out in an inspirational spiritual song. Another gives a word of knowledge while another gives a prophecy in song.
This is what it is like. Each and every member of the meeting being sensitive to the Holy Spirit's direction and orchestration. The meeting moves forward and accomplishes God's goals when it is conducted decently and in order. Things run along smoothly with no crash and burns. I have been in large meetings where everyone was singing in the Spirit (singing in tongues) altogether at the same time. when suddenly, without anyone other than the Holy Spirit giving direction, everyone stops singing except for one person. Then just as suddenly someone else joins them in a sort of a duet. And then the whole room full of people gently joins in a chorus. And then an absolutely amazing thing would take place. I would hear gentle rain pouring upon the roof when it is a very dry evening with no rain outside, and yet rain could be heard coming down on the roof. Angelic voices could be faintly heard singing a counter part harmony along with the whole congregation. And finally every voice would go silent as if a conductor had given a hand signal to taper off to silence.
It was at this point that there would be manifested the most powerful spiritual atmosphere where you felt as if you should be taking off your shoes because it was Holy ground that you were standing upon.
There is a church experience beyond the stimulation of the intellect with study. There is a church dimension that few ever get the opportunity to experience. True heart felt worship with Christians who are not afraid of the gifts of the Holy Spirit and know what balance is.
I have had the wonderful pleasure of being in meetings like this.
And
I have been in carnal meetings masquerading as spiritual meetings, when in reality flesh was at work pretending that the Holy Spirit was moving in their midst. Nothing quenches the Holy Spirit faster then flesh acting as if He were
behind their antics.
behind their antics.
Reverence dictates that we be sensitive and truly worshipful to insure balance for forward momentum or we will get no where...few make it through the straight and narrow.
Written and composed entirely by
pastor David Sloane
12,03,08
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
I wanted to add some thoughts that I had while working today, 12,04,08. Over so many years I have noticed that teachers of the Word always like to down play and marginalize those of us who love the moving of the Holy Spirit.Just today my son mentioned hearing John Courson saying on the radio something about not validating those of us who desire the Spirit's moving. He said that if we just stay in the Word that would be enough Spirit moving for us.
I beg to differ. Why?
I had this conversation about this topic out in the parking lot of Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa in 1973 with the then assistant pastor Lavern Romaine. Romaine told me that there has to be 'balance.' His very words to me on this topic were, "David, too much of the Word and we will dry up, too much of the Spirit and we will blow up, correct balance of both and we grow up."
I never forgot that conversation with him. I have noted over the years that churches that marginalize any operation of the gifts of the Holy Spirit while lifting the Word of God high over everything else, (almost to the point of 'Bibliolatry,') can become some what dry in a sense for me personally.
Ok, so you never heard the term Bibliolatry. Years ago all of us who would go out to the desert to seek the Lord came up with this term on our own. Today it is in common usage. Bibliolatry is the worship of the Bible or any other text.
I have been in churches that minimize the teaching of the Word of God and maximize the exercise of the gifts. Man what a mess! People looking like Funky chickens doing that bouncing up and down thing and others shaking their hands and others shouting. I have spiritual discernment and in some of those places the Holy Spirit wasn't moving at all, but they did their thing any way while insisting that the Holy Spirit was doing those strange things and goings on.
When a church teaches the Word of God in it's entirety and allows the exercise of the gifts of the Holy Spirit, there can be such a sweet manifested presence of God. The sheep need inspiration.
1 Corinthians 14:4He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.
The sheep need to be edified. Above we see two ways this can be accomplished. One is by speaking in tongues. The other is by being exposed to prophecy. There are many other ways.
When was the last time that you spoke in tongues? When was the last time that you heard someone prophecy?
Apostle Paul understood this all too well:
1 Timothy 4:14Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.
Prophecy is declaring the mind and heart of God. It is making known God's will. The laying on of hands is the impartation of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Some would teach today that such things have ceased since we now have the written Word of God. They are in serious error and are teaching others to be impotent and powerless as witnesses for Jesus Christ by their false concepts.
2 Peter 1:19We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
They quote the above verse as if it declares the cessation of all the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
Jesus Christ would have stayed upon the earth and lived out the full extent of His natural life if this were true. But He had to leave this earth so that the Holy Spirit could come. Apparently for some reason, unknown to us at this time, only one person of the trinity can be in resident here on earth at one time.
Although we see all of them present at the immersion of Jesus by John the immerser.
Luke 3:22And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.
We see the Holy Spirit descending and the Father declaring and Jesus the Son in the above verse. The Holy Trinity. With in the one Godhead there are three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is not a force or an energy or an essence, He is a person.
We want this person of the Holy Spirit in our midst. Why?
Because it is He who manifest the presence of Almighty God to us. And anyone who has ever truly been in a service where the Holy Spirit comes and manifest Almighty God, never ever forgets that experience, never!
Once you taste of the 'real' of God you can never be satisfied with less then that. You search and search, looking for that church that 'gets it.' But you never can seem to find it. You leave disappointed until eventual you give up.
Satan steps in and tries his best to convince you that it was all a dream. He gets you to chalk it up to your youthful exuberance or just an emotional period of your life.
No! It was a genuine manifestation of Almighty God that you were ever so blessed to have experienced.
Years and years of Bible study can never do for you what just one simple touch of the Holy Spirit can do for you. It can change your life for the rest of your days.
The mind listening to teaching is important, but the human spirit being touched by the Holy Spirit is just as important.
John 4:24God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
Worship Him in your spirit!
The mind.
Ephesians 4:23And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
Philippians 2:5Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
Feed your mind on the Word of God.
Ephesians 5:26That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
Titus 3:5Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
Washing of regeneration?
In biology, an organism is said to regenerate a lost or damaged part if the part regrows so that the original function is restored. Restoration.
Renewing of the Holy Spirit. We need this experience that comes of the Holy Spirit. Therefore I desire the moving of the Holy Spirit!

All I need is You Lord
Let me give you one of my own personal spiritual tips. You may not be feeling very spiritual or even in the Spirit at this moment. Listen to this worship. At first it may not touch you much. Listen to it again and again until your inner man, your spirit, starts to come alive to God. Desire towards Him (Jesus Christ) as you continue to listen. Join the congregation in worshipful statement of need for Him. And soon enough you will be in the Spirit. Then listen to it once more with a true heart of praise and adoration of Him. This is how we get into the Spirit. This is how we walk in the Spirit. Let the words sink deep within your spirit until they become a part of your own proclamation towards the Lord.
Don't be concerned if nothing takes place at first. It oftentimes takes a few times around before the cares of this world, that choke out the good seed, drop away from you. Turn off all distractions and focus towards the Lord with all that is within you. As you worship allow yourself to enter into the timelessness of eternity, timing yourself with Almighty God's timing. Worshipping at His throne for all eternity. Joining all of creation in worship of the Master Creator our Saviour and Lord.
You can do this with any true worship of Jesus Christ. God dwells in the midst of the praises of His people. God is here, drawing you towards Himself like never before. Respond to His call. He is our 'All in All.' He is the all becoming one, becoming what we need...
Pastor David Sloane

Version 2
A church for young people
a shepherd
It was late summer when He and three other men first walked upon that road yonder. It was evening, and He stopped and stood there at the end of the pasture.
I was playing upon my flute, and my flock was grazing all around me. When He stopped I rose and walked over and stood before Him.
And He asked me, "Where is the grave of Elijah? Is it not somewhere near this place?"
And I answered Him, "It is there, sir, underneath that great heap of stones. Even unto this day every passerby brings a stone and places it upon the heap."
And He thanked me and walked away, and His friends walked behind Him.
And after three days Gamaliel who was also a shepherd, said to me that the man who had passed by was a prophet in Judea; but I did not believe him. Yet I thought of that man for many a moon.
When spring came Jesus passed once more by this pasture, and this time He was alone.
I was not playing on my flute that day for I had lost a sheep and I was bereaved, and my heart was downcast within me.
And I walked towards Him and stood still before Him, for I desired to be comforted.
And He looked at me and said, "You do not play upon your flute this day. Whence is the sorrow in your eyes?"
And I answered, "A sheep from among my sheep is lost. I have sought her everywhere but I find her not. And I know not what to do."
And He was silent for a moment. Then He smiled upon me and said, "Wait here awhile and I will find your sheep." And He walked away and disappeared among the hills.
After an hour He returned, and my sheep was close beside Him. And as He stood before me, the sheep looked up into His face even as I was looking. Then I embarrassed her in gladness.
And He put His hand upon my shoulder and said, "From this day you shall love this sheep more than any other in your flock, for she was lost and now she is found."
And again I embraced my sheep in gladness, and she came close to me, and I was silent.
But when I raised my head to thank Jesus, He was already walking afar off, and I had not the courage to follow Him...

National Park Service Says Tech Is Enabling Stupidity
"The National Park Servicehttp://www.nps.gov/index.htm is finding technology to be a double-edged sword. While new technologies can and do save lives, the NPS is also finding that unseasoned hikers and campers are now boldly going where they never would have gone beforehttp://www.nytimes.com/2010/08/22/science/earth/22parks.html?_r=4&scp=1&sq=national%20park%20service&st=cse counting on cellphones, GPS, and SPOT devices to bail them out if they get into trouble. Last fall, a group of hikers in the Grand Canyon called in rescue helicopters three times by pressing the emergency button on their satellite location device. When rangers arrived the second time, the hikers complained that their water supply tasted salty. 'Because of having that electronic device, people have an expectation that they can do something stupid and be rescued,' said a spokeswoman for Grand Teton National Park. 'Every once in a while we get a call from someone who has gone to the top of a peak, the weather has turned and they are confused about how to get down and they want someone to personally escort them. The answer is that you are up there for the night.'"

I need to get to what God called “The Tip of Ethiopia.” He said it to me in a dream on Good Friday, at the end of a five day fast. God will get me there!
Bless The Man Of God! God will provide. God is mighty. Almighty God.
Genesis 22:8
And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself...Psalm 40:17
But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me: thou art my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God.
Psalm 63:7
Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.
Psalm 94:17
Unless the LORD had been my help, my soul had almost dwelt in silence.
Psalm 121:1
I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
Psalm 121:2
My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.
The trinity of modern day Christianity best suited to their emphasis could be described as Father, Son, and Holy Bible. A personal relationship with the Holy Ghost as a person is almost never talked about and in most cases is subtly discouraged by church leaders. When on occasion, they do teach on the Holy Spirit, the vocabulary is radically redefined.
The revolutions that have occurred in culture which have taken place in the vocabularies of technology, psychology, medicine, politics and religion have little regard for biblical truth. The terminology used in teaching on the Holy Spirit has been retranslated into a language that is foreign to that of the Holy Scriptures.
It is therefore possible for evangelical theologians to use the terminology of the Bible and historic theology, but in an entirely different sense from that intended by the writers of Scripture.
A personal encounter with the Holy Ghost has been radically redefined to diminish the expectancy of new believers to a possible warm sensation or a slightly detectable energy field.
Biblical terms that refer to the work of the Holy Spirit in Historic Christianity are redesigned in a theological framework but in direct variance with the historically accepted meanings of the terms.
A church that rejects the Holy Spirit encounter may sound as if they are in perfect agreement with those who receive the power of the Holy Ghost, while in reality they are miles apart. This language barrier of terminology has a way of replacing the manifested presence of God by establishing a false sense of unity.
The fellowship becomes nominal and frustrating because the vocabulary is in agreement but the definitions are not. Non-charismatic religion that shuns the ministry of the Holy Ghost may give the appearance of agreeing with nearly every statement the Spirit filled Christian makes but at the same time young Christians in their church’s are not taught to seek the baptism of the Holy Spirit. They don’t even know that such an encounter with God exists.
Religion may talk of God as trinity, but their concept of God is divine principles – Life, Truth and Love. Many devout Christians have a form of godliness but deny the power of God. They may be very sincere in their mental ability to serve God, but yielding to the Holy Spirit is more than surrendering ones mental concepts of serving God for reevaluation. It is to receive a baptism from heaven.

Surely you can recall the anointing of God on Brant Baker.
It was not theatrics, it was what the bible calls preaching. Few people preach today...most just teach.
Mark 3:14
And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach,
Acts 5:42
And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.
Acts 10:42
And he commanded us to preach unto the people...
Brant had an ear to hear what the Spirit was saying and an eye to see what the Spirit was doing. He followed the Holy Spirit closely during those ministry days.
When we omit the moving of the Holy Spirit we take the tension off of the string of our bows and our arrows fall harmlessly to the ground. Brant's bow had major tension! He was an annointed preacher and evangelist.
Yes the arrows of the Word are of importance. But if your bow has no string or tension on it, your arrows fall to the ground. THE HOLY SPIRIT IS THE TENSION on our bows. Eliminate Him and your bow is just a useless stick...
Holy Spirit and the Word of God. They work together as a team. The arrowhead needs the shaft and they need the feathers. They work together in unity. The arrowhead initiates, the shaft facilitates, the feathers give guidance and support. The bow of the Holy Spirit gives function...
We need the manifest presence of the Holy Spirit if we are going to make a diffrence in people's lives. One touch of the Holy Spirit will do more to change the course of a life then nine years of seminary school can.
Yield to the Holy Spirit. Be empty of selfish ambitions and adgendas. Give up, die to self.
John the baptist counted himself unworthy to tie Jesus sandal. And yet he was the most dramatic, political and religious leader of the time. The whole area was literally in an uproar over him. Even the religious leaders, the scribes, the Pharisees, the Saddusees came for his baptism.
Why? Because he was so powerful, and so many people were going to him. This is how influental this man was. He ate what God said, he wore what God said, he lived the way the Lord said, simple and isolated.
How many in ministry today are always looking for ways to increase 'their ministry?'
John talks about the Son of the Living God. He says, "He must increase, I must decrease, He is preferred before me." He could honestly say that, because it was true. And because it was true, he was willing to sacrifice literally everything. He wasn't selfish.
You don't live like that because of the applause you get from the people, because he lived in a desert wasteland. You don't have anything but Jesus. You wouldn't do it for anything else. Some people do things for money, but their not in the wilderness. They're not out there alone with the Lord. With people, but alone still, with the Lord. They are not really wanting Him to be preferred before themselves.
Some accepted their calling, not realizing what it would completely take, what the price really was. John knew. John confessed, it says..."And he confessed, and denied not; but confessed, I am not the Christ. And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elijah? And he saith, I am not."
Yet Jesus said that John had the spirit of Elijah. John said, "I'm not Elijah. I'm nobody special, I'm nobody big, I'm nobody Kewl, I'm just nobody at all."
"Are you a prophet then?" "Then said they unto him, Who art thou?"
Why? Because he was so anointed of the Holy Spirit! His bow was fully pulled back!
"No, I'm not Christ. No, I'm not Elijah. No, I'm not the prophet. Well then what saith thou of thyself?" God help you if you say anything. You're crucified with Christ.
Why are we not anointed? It is us. He is the same, the problem is you and I. We are so selfish, there is so much of ourselves. We are building our 'ministry.'
John's example tells us to count the cost. What does God want you to do with your life? What is your purpose here?
John knew that he wasn't even worthy to even touch His sandal, for this was God. This was Almighty God! And yet we are a temple of the Living God. Jesus Christ by His Holy Spirit dwells in me, in you, and in every born again believer.
This is an incredible truth of major porportions!
John knew every moment of the day, no matter how many thousands came to him, that his way, his purpose was a voice. He never forgot that. A voice in the wilderness pointing the way to the Lamb of God.
Johns bow was fully pulled back for the arrow of his words. Is yours? Is mine?
"And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God! And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus."
They 'heard him speak." He was anointed. The arrows of his words flew to their mark because the tension of his bow was there.
And that can only happen for us by the power of the Holy Spirit!
Holy Spirit ignite us!

If you grew up in the 50's your gonna love this
Not only will you hear the music, you will see the videos...
1958. Fifty years ago. If you grew up in the seventies, you know something about the fifties from watching the movie American Graffiti and the TV show Happy Days. And, of course, the Grease movies. Some of these songs you will recognize, since they are still popular. Some you may recognize the singer, or the song, but not both. Take a step back in time, to fifty years ago, and hear what we heard on the radio, or listened to on our record players.
