This is a 728 ton brass ball that hangs in the center of a skyscraper,the world's largest completed skyscraper, taking up four floors near the top. It's job is to attenuate the motion of the building in the event of high winds or an earth quake. Since this building is just over 600ft from a major fault line, the brass ball is being used to compensate any motion encountered.
