Love One Another

Knit together in Love

Colossians 2:2
That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;

Colossians 2:19
And not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God.

According to Merriam-Webster, "knit" means "to link firmly or closely and to grow together or to become drawn together." Lately I have had a desire to see this occur in the Body of Christ. Imagine the power of our prayers if we were united and knit together in such a fashion. "So all the men of Israel were gathered against the city, knit together as one man." (Judges 20:11)

I see each child of God as a separate thread. Although each thread is unique, there is not much purpose to just a skein of thread. It’s only when those threads are expertly woven together by the careful hands of our Maker that something beautiful, yet practical, is created for God’s kingdom.

Becoming knit together means that we follow the example of the original apostles in Acts. "And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and of prayers….And all that believed were together, and had all things common…And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart." (Acts 1:42, 44, 46)

I love the story of David and Jonathan, but I’ve always wondered what it would be like to have a friend so close to my heart. "…the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul." (I Samuel 18:1) Now that sounds like togetherness. One for all and all for one!

Imagine what it would be like if we could overlook our differences and shortcomings and instead strive together to do God’s will. I know we would see revival and the Holy Spirit in full operation if we could be knit together in love.

"…and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God." (Colossians 2:19)

We here at Shekinah Fellowship are deeply greatful for you and your personal sacrifice on our behalf. We ask Almighty God to daily watch over you as you do your jobs. We hold you in our hearts and can not express enough how much we love each and every one of you who lay your lives down daily for all of us here at home. God Bless you!

John 15:13
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

In the central Karrada neighbourhood, an elderly man placed flowers into the gun barrels of three recruits. And then the suicide bomber struck. Four policemen, three soldiers and four civilians were killed, and many more wounded. The death toll would have been much higher were it not for the three soldiers who threw themselves at the bomber when they became suspicious. They absorbed much of the blast.

Without their action, many more would have died. The three were last night being hailed as heroes. "Their selfless sacrifice is what saved a lot of lives," Lieutenant Steven Stover, a US military spokesman, told The Times.

Captain Michael Starz, who spends much of his time mentoring Iraqi troops, said that he had no concern about malign elements, noting that the Iraqi forces handled much of the security at a shared base where they all live on the outskirts of the town. "Literally they have our backs and we have their backs," he said.

...Yet two hours into the mission and with no insurgents in sight, the Iraqi contingent also initiated a break at the village, tucking into homemade bread brought out by a housewife while the US soldiers stood guard.

Private First Class James Lee, 24, said he found working with the Iraqi Army amusing and interesting. "Sometimes you feel that they have not got a clue what is going on," he said. The Iraqi soldiers, for their part, seem proud to be serving their country.

All of us are proud of those who serve us and lay down their lives for us daily. We look forward to the day that you come home. You are not forgotten. You are in our every prayer.

Joshua 1:9Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

Joshua 10:25And Joshua said unto them, Fear not, nor be dismayed, be strong and of good courage: for thus shall the LORD do to all your enemies against whom ye fight.

Psalm 46:1God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
