Traditionally the early Catholics have been noted for having deliverance sessions and exorcism. Deliverance from what? Demon spirits. The Vatican’s Obsservatore Romano warns us, Satanism in all its forms and through all the modern means of communication, is rearing its ugly head.

They long ago recognized the need for deliverance. They know there are many problems and evils today which are the result not only of one’s own sinfulness (the flesh), or of the pressures and hurts caused by sinful man (the world), but of some oppressive preternatural personified evil (the devil), and that such problems and evils cannot be dealt with adequately simply by personal repentance and interpersonal reconciliation but need what is called the act of deliverance or liberation from this spiritual evil power or force (1 Pet 5.8,9: Eph 6.10-13).

And so Jesus went to every town and village of Galilee, preaching and teaching, healing and casting out demons, for he had come to establish the kingdom of God by destroying the works of Satan (1 Jn 3.6). He further sent his apostles with the mandate to go out to the whole world and to proclaim the Gospel to all creation; to cast out devils in his name and to lay their hands on the sick and heal them (Mk 16:15-18).

People are becoming more aware of the existence and the influence of Satan, of the dangerous folly of seeking help from “wrong” sources and the availability of the resources of the Church to not only heal them from sickness but to set them free from such demonic influence and attacks.

When Jesus was 30 years old he would receive the authority of the Father to proclaim the good news to the captives and the power of the Holy Spirit to heal and deliver the oppressed. Peter would later say how God anointed Jesus with the power of the Holy Spirit, and that is why he went around doing good, healing all those who were under Satan’s power because God was with him. (Acts 10.38).

A Christian could never be demon possessed. He can not be owned by demons because he is owned by Christ. Demons have no title to bodies redeemed by the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. The Christian must be assured that no demon has a legal right to indwell his body.

Demons are spiritual enemies and it is the responsibility of each Christian to deal with them directly in spiritual warfare.

Ephesians 6:10-12
King James Version (KJV)
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

 2 Corinthians 10:3-4
 King James Version (KJV)
For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:
(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)

So if a Christian could never be demon possessed then why the above warfare scriptures?

Matthew 12:43-44
King James Version (KJV)
43 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none.
44 Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished.

It is not uncommon for demons to speak out through a person who is being delivered. Mark 1:23,24. Demons have been heard to declare,"This is my house." They are referring to the person's body and are seeking to deceive  the person and the deliverance ministers into thinking that they have a right to that body. No demon can back up such a claim.

Demons will always try to influence and apply pressure on us. That is why we are told that we are fighting against principalities.  The Greek word "archas" describes things in a series such as leaders, rulers and magistrates. Principalities could be leaders, rulers with rank and organization. The word principalities tells us that the Satanic kingdom is highly organized like an army. We in America have a president who is called the "commander in Chief" followed by generals, colonels, majors, captains, lieutenants on down to the private.

Satan is in charge of the principalities, he is the head of his kingdom, under him are ruling spirits subject unto himself.

We are also told that we warfare over "powers." Greek "exousias" accurately translated as "authorities". But the Christian has been given an even greater authority. He is vested with the authority of the name of Jesus.

And these signs shall follow them that believe: In My Name shall they cast out devils.
Mark 16:17

Demons are forced to yield to the authority of the name of Jesus.

Then He called His twelve disciples together, and gave them POWER (dunamis) and authority (exousia) over all devils, and to cure diseases. Luke 9:1

And yet we are told to put on the whole armour of God and stand against the "wiles of the devil." The word translated "wiles" is "methodeia" meaning "to follow up by method and settled plan, using deceit, craft and trickery." Satan does have a plan, a method to conquer each one of us, along with our family, church, community and nation.

God has provided us armour for our protection and weapons for offensive warfare. Thus we can withstand every assault against us and launch an attack that will overthrow the enemy!

Daniel of the Old Testament was seeking a Word from God through prayer and fasting.

After three weeks an angel appears to him and explains that he had been delayed in getting to Daniel with God's message. The angelic messenger tells him that an encounter with "the prince of the kingdom of Persia" delayed him. He is speaking of a demon prince. Spiritual warfare.

We are told that we wrestle against The Rulers Of The Darkness Of This World. The word in Greek for "world rulers" is "kosmokratoras." The word can be translated "lords of the world" or "princes of this age."  Satan is referred to in scripture as "the god of this world." II Cor. 4:4.

When Adam fell through his sin then Satan gained dominion over the world. Jesus did not deny the devil's claim made to Him during the wilderness temptations:

Matthew 4:9

King James Version (KJV)
And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.

Today Satan is a defeated foe. We have ever right to treat him as a trespasser. He is stripped of his power and his kingdom by the finished work of Christ upon the cross.

But that does not mean that he will not attempt to trespass with his authority and power. Demons have power and authority.

The believer has greater authority then the authority of demons.

Then he called His twelve disciples together, and gave them POWER (dunamis= dynamo, dynamite) and authority (exousia) over all devils, and to cure diseases. Luke 9:1

Some may say, "O but that was the twelve apostles, not us."

But ye shall receive power, after the Holy Ghost is come upon you. Acts 1:18

The power of the believer comes to him with the baptism in the Holy Spirit. Jesus knows that His followers need both authority and power to deal with the enemy. Fully equipped A Team!

Sent out...Matthew chapter 28 verses eighteen through twenty, opens with, "all power and authority is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore..."

We today have the same authority and power for ministry that was given to the church initially. The authority comes through salvation; the power comes through the baptism in the Holy Spirit. And then the gifts of the Holy Spirit come into operation.

Satan intends to control and occupy. He is called, "the god of this world" II Cor. 4:4. It is imparative that we recognize Satan to be a defeated foe. He is stripped of his kingdom and power. He is now to be treated as a trespasser to be cast out.

Luke 11:20-22

King James Version (KJV)
20 But if I with the finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you.
21 When a strong man armed keepeth his palace, his goods are in peace:
22 But when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh from him all his armour wherein he trusted, and divideth his spoils.

(KJV)Jesus declared that the strong man's armour was taken away from him. This means that Satan is made completely defenseless. Satan is still seeking to rule the world, and he has made considerable progress. Because the church has not risen up in the power and authority given it.

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. John 10:10

Christians are in a spiritual battle against unseen forces. Stand your ground in Christ and proclaim your victory.

"If a man is born of God, the wicked one touches him not." 1 John 5:18

Anyone who has not asked for forgiveness of sins and invited Christ into their lives is open for demon possession. Christians have the power and authority to cast them out.

If you have dabbled in drugs, the occult, witchcraft, seances, channeling, Ouija boards, Tarot cards, and other things of that sort, you are dealing with demons who can enter into you and eventually control you and possibly own you.

Sure they have some power and authority, but who's?

Repent and ask Christ for deliverance and believe that He died and shed His blood for you and you will be saved.

Ours were the sufferings He bore, ours the sorrows He carried...and through His wounds we are healed. Isaiah 53:4,5

The Lord Jesus wants to heal us even more then we want to be healed. We bring the wounded to Jesus. Jesus is the healer. He who is the author of our life is the healer. The ways that He provides for us to become whole, healthy and free are wide and varied. All of us who have become Christians have a testimony of how we came to Christ that is different than others. And yet we all have received the truth of God's living Word.

Bring your wounded heart to Jesus. Offer up your own pain and sorrows. He will heal you.  The power of Jesus is present to heal wherever you are, everywhere, anytime, anyplace, receive your healing today.

All you have to do is open your heart and ask Him to forgive you and heal you.

You can receive your healing right where you are, right now.

Jesus paid the price for your complete forgiveness and healing when He died on the cross over 2000 years ago.

He was raised from the dead, and all who believe He is the Son of God and follow Him shall be saved.

Pray this prayer: 'It belongs to me because of what Jesus has done for me, I receive complete forgiveness and healing now in Jesus name.'

'Surely He has borne our sicknesses, and carried our pain...He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities,

The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.' Isaiah 53:4-5

The key to receive your healing from God is to have FAITH!
Jesus often said to those he healed, "Your faith has healed you."

It is clear from the Bible that Jesus healed--and healed often. Jesus main ministry consisted of three things:
"Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people." (Matthew 4:23)

Healing was not a side issue with Christ; it was one of the main issues with Him.
What about today? Does Jesus still heal?

Listen to Hebrews 13:8: "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever." Jesus still heals. He has not stopped healing.

"...Many followed [Jesus], and he healed ALL their sick." Matthew 12:15

How many sick people did Jesus heal? ALL! Not some or most, but all! It is God's will to heal every believer. Nowhere do we find in the scriptures that Jesus refused to heal anyone who came to Him in faith. He healed everyone who believed--without exception!

"how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him." Acts 10:38

"Resist the devil and he will flee from you" James 4:7

So the issue is this: What will you believe?

"...the blind men came to Jesus and asked Him to heal them. Jesus asked them, 'Do you believe that I am able to do this?' 'Yes, Lord,' they replied. Then he touched their eyes and said, 'ACCORDING TO YOUR FAITH will it be done to you...'" (Matthew 9:28-29)

God will do for you "according to your belief." If you believe Jesus still heals and that He wills to heal everyone including you...If you believe that He paid the price for your healing...

He gives power to the weak
and strength to the powerless.
Even youths will become weak and tired,
and young men will fall in exhaustion.
But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength.
They will soar high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary.
They will walk and not faint.

If we confess our sins, he who is faithful and just will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all wickedness. 1 John 1:9

Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.”

O taste and see that the LORD is good:
blessed is the man that trusteth in him..
Psalm 34:8
