Full Moon Surfage Solstice

19 years ago on this day, the longest day of the year, my son and I along with two of his friends were surfing the Newport Beach CA river jettys.

We watched as the sunset in one direction and a full moon came to take it's place in the opposite direction.

The light from the setting sun on the ocean's horizon was like a golden carpet extending all the way to us.

When we turned our heads in the other direction there was a full moon casting white light across the water towards us.

The whole scene was surreal and totally incredible!

We continued to surf because the full moon lit up the waves and the water was warm.

It was one of the most remarkable surf sessions that imprinted in my memory.

Here we are once again having a full moon on the June Solstice.
