On a chilly winter day in Greenwich Village in 1988 or 1989, not long
after they'd appeared in U2's RATTLE AND HUM, Sterling Magee and Adam
Gussow performed live on a brownstone stoop for a Swatch watch ad. This
was their first "recording," since they'd not yet entered the studio to
record the tracks that would end up on HARLEM BLUES (1991), their W. C.
Handy nominated debut release on Flying Fish records.
The sound for this ad was recorded live, not dubbed; both men were wired with lavalier mics. It was cold!
