In 1996, Brian and Cheryl moved to London, England, with their four children.
God had called Brian to save many through faith in Jesus Christ. There Brian established a Calvary Chapel in Westminster, London, just down the street from Buckingham Palace.
On the first Sunday at Calvary Chapel Westminster, there were only eight people in attendance beyond Brian and Cheryl's own family.
For who dares make light of small beginnings?
Zechariah 4:10
However, God was faithful to add daily to the fellowship in London an assembly of precious sinners made saints by the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
In London Cheryl home-schooled her four children, taught two weekly women's Bible studies, hosted many visitors to her home, and ministered in the children's ministry.
In the year 2000, at the request of Cheryl's father ( Pastor Chuck Smith of Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa California), Brian and Cheryl, with their family and a new son-in-law, returned to California to have Brian transition into the pastorate of Calvary Chapel.
It was actually a carrot on a stick to get the Broderson family back to America because they were missed dearly by the Smith's.
Brian took the bait and unwisely left the growing foundation that he had built with the Lord Jesus Christ to stand upon another man's foundation.
As a result Brian was never actually installed upon that other man's foundation.
He had to take the "Bull by the horns" as it were to make the carrot on the stick materialize as it had been originally presented to him.
Today Brian is controversial standing on a foundation he did not build.
Meanwhile the foundation he was building in England is starting to crumble without him...
Yea, so have I strived to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build upon another man's foundation.
Romans 15:20
But praise God we serve the God of second chances!
There is always another way available by the way maker.
Ezekiel 22:30
And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land...
